IP Ratings - HEATSCOPE HEATERS

Published:
· Updated:

Outdoor heaters are classified using an international IP rating system. IP means Ingress Protection, and this system uses a combination of two numbers in ascending scale to determine how waterproof or dustproof the appliance is.

IP65

1st digit defines the level of protection from solid objects, like dust (ranging from 0 - 6).

2nd digit defines the level of protection from water at varying intensities, angles, depths, pressures (ranging from 0 - 8).

The higher the number, the better the protection.

Why does the IP matter?

Having an IP rating helps customers choose the correct product for their application. It also means the product will last, and there are less chances for technical failures. Reputable manufacturers clearly mark IP ratings on the packaging.
